Matty & Chris got married at the Pavilion on Northbourne in Canberra. The wedding ceremony, photos and reception were all one this one location. Matty & Chris have been together for a long time and for most of that time were unable to get married because of the laws of Australia. Thankfully that has all changed and now you can marry who you love. Matty and Chris were such an awesome couple to work with and their brief was their guests were the important part of their wedding not them.
I loved shooting this wedding for Matty & Chris, but as with all my wedding shoots, I dissect it afterwards, what could I have done differently, what would I change and what would I do over if I could. What I would do differently is change the location for the bridal party shoot. The light inside the atrium is awful and scenery is not conducive to great wedding photography. While I think the images are okay, they were never going to be fantastic in the Atrium. For future weddings I need to change things up if its going to be the Pavilion.
For this Wedding, because I knew I would be unable to get up to the balconies and down I got Catherine from Laconic Photographic to assist me. She was fairly new to Canberra at the time and I believe that as photographers in the wedding industry we need to support each other.
